Swipe Cards:
A magnetic stripe card is a type of card capable of storing data by modifying the magnetism of tiny iron-based magnetic particles on a band of magnetic material on the card. The magnetic stripe, sometimes called a magstripe, is read by physical contact and swiping past a reading head. Magnetic stripe cards are commonly used in credit cards, identity cards, and transportation tickets

Access Codes: (Electric Locks)
The advantages of an electric lock connected to an access control system include: key control, where keys can be added and removed without re-keying the lock cylinder; fine access control, where time and place are factors; and transaction logging, where activity is recorded.

Keys:
While being cheap, locks can be lock picked by people who know how to do this, granting them instant access to the door, how ever not many people do know how to, and so keys are the most used form of identification today.

While keys are the cheapest method, they are probably the easiest to break into, allowing skilled criminals to break into houses with a pick locking tool.
Magnetic cards are probably the ‘middle’ type, as they are not TOO expensive, and are very hard to fake.
Access codes on doors have to be the best method, as although expensive, they are VERY hard to break into, there are also cheap variations on access codes.

To keep a system, or server, running 24/7 you would need at least one backup, incase your first systems get a virus, or it floods, and you would also need an effective method of keeping people out of the server room, to prevent physical damage to the system.
